Think Pink!

Decided to go with subtle pink nails for over the weekend. This may be coming off today, although it is wearing well. I put it on Friday night and it still looks good today.
This is two (or three) coats of Sinful Colors "Easy Going" with one coat of Sinful Colors "Pinky Glitter" (clever name) over it. Seche Vite is the topcoat. I was excited that Walgreens had this brand for 99 cents last week so I bought five! They are usually only $1.99, which is still a steal, but 99 cents is even better! I love the Pinky Glitter color - it has a pink base with larger irridecent glitters and smaller glittery flecks. It is soooo pretty. I just like looking at the bottle!

Grape juice? I'd rather have wine instead.

Yesterday I polished my nails with China Glaze's Grape Juice. In the bottle it looks like a deep purple with small glitter in it. To me it looks much deeper in the bottle than on the nail. I used (I think) two coats in the photo. I think I should have used another coat because it has some bald spots and is already starting to chip on my right hand. Oh well. I do like the color - next time I will do three or four coats, I think.

Let's Go Bucs!

So, we went to a Pirates game on Saturday (our second one of the year!) and so I decided to do a black and gold water marble. These are the best 3 fingers, although my right hand does look pretty decent for a change. Good news was that the Pirates won on Saturday (although they lost yesterday). Bad news was that I didn't get to show off this mani. It was super cold Saturday night - so cold in fact that I wore gloves! So, no one got to see my fab nails, but I knew they were there. This is probably coming off today, though. Not sure if I will do another water marble today or not.

My first water marble

Having only recently even heard about water marbling, I decided to give it a try today. I have to say that for my first attempt it wasn't bad. The pics are below - obviously I need to clean up the polish around my nails. The taping can only help so much! I need to figure out how to have a more uniform design on all the nails, but for now they will just all have to be different!

Ahoy, matey!

Hi friends, I switched out the nail polish today opting for China Glaze's Ahoy! It is a fuchsia/magenta pink color with fine glitter in it. I just got this last week so this is my first time trying it. I have to say it's pretty fab and the color is pretty true on the nails as to what's in the bottle.

This is 2 coats w/ Seche Vite on top.

Lilac mani

Happy Saturday everyone! Hope you survived "Friday the 13th" yesterday. I had 2 black cats cross my path - kind of hard to avoid since they live with me.

Not sure if this color is lilac or what - It's from the Sally Girl line at Sally Beauty - you know - one of those little tiny bottles. I bought a bunch of them because they were buy 2 get 1 free and I also had a coupon. Go me. Here's a pic of what I did last night. The pic isn't very good, but oh well.

You can't really see the true color of it. This is actually without the flash on my camera. It's a very pretty lavender or lilac color - very pale and I put China Glaze's Prism on my ring finger.

Not so smart

The other day while out and about I decided to go to Big Lots to see if they had any Easter decorations. They did not - in fact their Easter supply was pretty depleted. But, while I was there I ventured over to the beauty aisles and found a nail art stamping kit for $6.50. I was excited as I have never tried stamping before. So this morning I got out the kit, ready to do some fab designs and low and behold it did not work. So after an email to the company that makes the product, I then realized that in order for the thing to work that you needed to peel off the protective layer from each plate. So yeah, I felt pretty stupid. So the thing does work now that I have learned to read the directions!! Here's one of my first attempts. I just have the stamp on my ring finger.

I am having fun trying all of the designs. It came w/ five plates with like six or seven images on each plate.

Magnetic polish

Today I made my first attempt at doing the magnetic polish. I used the Finger Paints Hipnotic that I referenced in a previous post. I must say that my left hand looks significantly better than my right. Apparently I am not very adept at using my left hand to hold a magnet over the nails on my right hand. Oh well. I will have to give this another try at some point.

Hope everyone had a good Easter Holiday yesterday. Mine was great and today I went out and got half-price Easter candy - like I really need that.

Happy Easter!

For those who celebrate it, Happy Easter today!

I thought I would post a picture of some of my fave spring nail colors. In the fall/winter I love a dark nail, but now I am all about color! Just look through the magazines - color is everywhere this season - with color blocking a huge trend. I know that different bright colors of jeans are also trending big this spring/summer. I don't know if I can rock that look or not. It looks too much like the 80s to me, but for those of you who are more "fashion forward" than I am, go for it! In the meantime, I will just keep the bright colors on my fingers and toes! It gives me something to look at when I'm bored at work!

Bright springtime colors!

My newest friends

My most recent nail polish purchases. From left to right: China Glaze Prism, China Glaze Pool Party and Finger Paints Hipnotic.

I put the Prism and the Pool Party on my toes (alternating the colors) and it looks really cool. I would post a picture, but since my blog is only a day old I don't want to turn people away from it just yet. The Prism is a duochrome color - or however you spell that. It looks different in different lights. The Pool Party is just a really great bright pink color. The Hipnotic is a magnetic polish. This is my first magnetic polish and I have yet to try it since I wanted to rock my Easter nails for the weekend. I wish that the magnetic polish came in lighter colors for the spring/summer. I guess that the design may not show up as well in a lighter polish, but who knows. If anyone knows of a lighter or brighter color of magnetic polish let me know!

My first post

Hello! I thought there were not enough blogs dedicated to nails and beauty, so I decided to create my own. I have never blogged before in my life.

I have loved nail polish since I was a little girl and have a lot of it (although by looking online I don't have nearly as much as I thought I did. I guess I need to catch up with them!). I am by no means an expert. It's just a fun hobby for me and keeps me out of trouble (yeah right!).

On this site I plan on posting pictures of my at-home manicures. In addition to nail polish, I loooove makeup, shoes, purses watches and basically any accessory becasue no matter what size you are shoes and purses always fit and you can always do your nails and makeup to feel better. I hope that doesn't sound shallow - because I'm really not (or maybe I am - OK now I'm concerned about that).

I am going to try to post a picture of my "Easter" nails for the upcoming holiday. I hope this works.

Hey! It worked. Amazing. As you can see it's not perfect, but I think for my first attempt at doing something like this, it turned out decent. I used a combination of a bunch of colors: light blue (NYC), pink (Pure Ice), orange (Wet n Wild), green (Avon) and yellow (Avon). I used Seche Vite topcoat and Seche Clear Base coat.
